Artisan Passion and the Wall of Regulations
Several years ago, a client came to us with an urgent plea: “We have a product ready for our international store opening next month, but we can’t get it out of Japan.”
At the time, Japanese food products were facing strict import regulations in the aftermath of the great earthquake. When I visited their workshop in the freezing early morning, I saw artisans single-mindedly devoted to their craft—dipping their hands into ice-cold water, all for the sake of safety and quality.
Seeing their dedication, I knew we couldn’t let these passion-filled products be blocked by a wall of regulations. This was the moment our challenge truly began.

Paving the Way through Specialized Expertise
We immediately coordinated with domestic and international government agencies to establish the safety certifications and inspection systems required to clear complex import regulations. By traveling to the destination ourselves, we secured the cooperation of local buyers and optimized logistics—including a shift to refrigerated container transport—to ensure the products maintained their peak quality.
Our role went far beyond mere paperwork. By mobilizing our full expertise across the entire supply chain—from upstream to downstream—we resolved every “reason for rejection” one by one.

After persistent negotiations and meticulous preparation, the products safely crossed the ocean and reached the shelves of local stores. The product, which had almost been given up on, became a massive hit, leading to the remarkable feat of opening multiple new locations in quick succession.

My journey began in 2008 with a profound sense of awe when I first witnessed the sheer intensity of international trade. Seeing a world where multiple languages intertwined and energy was boundless, I felt a deep calling to create the talent and systems capable of thriving in such a vibrant environment. With this vision, I founded ELN in Kurashiki, armed with specialized knowledge in both IT and trade.
